Arguably one of Tasmania's best day trips, Bruny Island brings together world-class beaches, national parks, rugged coastline, native wildlife and exceptional local produce from land and sea.
The morning is active at an easy-to-moderate level, with nature walks, scenic lookouts, pristine beaches and lagoons, optional swimming and the chance to spot the island's elusive white wallaby. After lunch at the Bruny Hotel, the pace eases as you sample local produce such as honey, chocolate and oysters, subject to time and availability and at your own cost.
No two departures are exactly the same. The order and selection of stops may change with the weather, road conditions and the interests of the group so that the day feels rewarding rather than rushed.
Approximate tour time: 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Pickup times vary by location. If your Hobart accommodation is not listed, the nominated pickup point will usually be within a 100-300 metre walk.
Please arrive early for pickup. The ferry operates to a fixed schedule and the vehicle cannot wait for late passengers.
Check the forecast the night before and bring comfortable closed-toe walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, sunglasses, a hat, water, a camera and, if you plan to swim, a towel and swimwear. Food and drinks can be purchased during the day, and you are welcome to bring snacks.
Stops and activities are subject to weather, timing and local operating conditions.

Take an easy walk through lush temperate rainforest and enjoy the quiet scenery and fresh Tasmanian air.

Depending on the forecast, your guide may choose easy-to-moderate tracks leading to secluded beaches, coastal cliffs and panoramic viewpoints. A moderate level of fitness is recommended for the longer options.

Climb the timber steps to the viewing platform at The Neck for one of Bruny Island's most recognisable views across the narrow isthmus linking the north and south of the island.

Keep watch for native wildlife throughout the day, including the rare white wallaby. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but your guide knows several places where wallabies are often seen.

Visit picturesque beaches, secret waterholes and lagoons, with an opportunity to swim when weather, timing and conditions allow.

When time and conditions allow, visit the historic Cape Bruny Lighthouse precinct at the island's southern end and take in views across the Southern Ocean and rugged coastline.

Stop for lunch at the Bruny Hotel, with options for different budgets and dietary needs. Later stops may include Bruny Island honey, chocolate, oysters and other seasonal produce. Lunch, tastings and beverages are at your own cost.

The day tour to Bruny was A++ with our superstar driver/tour guide Gray! He was so entertaining, friendly and accommodating too! Gave us plenty of time to spend at each stop, and kindly agreed to fulfill our request to stop at the famous roadside refrigerator "bakery" where most of us picked up some gorgeous sourdough. The whole day was well planned out and sequenced to end with a sweet treat at Bruny Island Honey!!

Fantastic day exploring Bruny! Our driver Mark was a delightful chap and very knowledgeable. (Not to mention full of wit!). Loved both sides of the island but particularly the area on South Bruny near the lighthouse. You'd swear you were in Iceland! Totally recommended to do this tour!

We had an absolutely lovely time with Jodi! Another tour had fallen through and we booked last minute; very glad we did. She was knowledgeable, funny, and a delightful guide! Tour itself was also a great bite sized roundup of the wonders of Bruny, really packed a ton in for a day and had us home in time for dinner. Highly recommend!
